runaway kdeinit problem is a KDE 3.0 issue.
About the kicker issue and the runaway kdeinit process. I don't believe it's a SuSE 8.0 issue. It happens every once and a while on my 7.3 box. I think it's a KDE 3.0 bug..I would think there will be a 3.0.1 here soon. :) -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- "I've never been quarantined. I'm sure it is a kde3.0 issue - rooting around on bugs.kde.org shows up several similar issues. And SuSE 8.0 seems truly excellent - but in my case the problem happens reliably within 15 minutes of starting work :-( I wondered if anyone had a better workaround. But I expect you're right, I'll wait for kde 3.0.1 to appear before going over to 8.0. 8.0 is clearly going to be cool, though, so we should all buy it. For anyone tracking the issue, I installed all the more recent rpm versions found at: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_8.0/base/ to see if they solved the problem. They didn't. Best, Fergus
