Folks, Is there a dynamic DNS package included with 9.0 or do I need to locate one off the web in which case any suggestions which one to use? I am using a (linksys) router and want to be able to dynamically resolve host names to DHCP IP addresses in my small home lan. Thanks, Babu __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Yes.. ddclient will work, and there is a quick and dirty setup already included in ddclient.conf. Just looked at it to make sure it supported the linksys. Hi Mike,
Thanks for the input. I read what I could find on
ddclient on the web. It seems ddclient actually does
far more than what I want to do.
I am just happy with the way my home network appears
to the outside world via my router. All I want is to
be able to resolve hostnames to DHCP IP *only* from
home to the machines in my home network serviced by
the DHCP server built into the router (linksys).
Ddclient want that one registers a domain name and
track IP changes to that. Seems far more complex than
what I am trying to do.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks again.
Babu

No you were being misled by the other person who did not understand what you were looking for. Bind has a feature that will allow it to be updated by the dhcp clients. There should be documentation in the /usr/share/docs directory. Ken
