Network connection using a d-link-122 and an inventel DW-200
Hi everyone, well I'm not on suse linux yet, I've tried to install it, everything was all right exept my connection to my network and consequently to the internet, my usb wifi adaptator (D-link DWL-122) was correctly installed, I have well configured the network connection (well, I think so, but maybe someone could give me a tutorial), and when I wanted to connect to my router (a DW-200 from inventel) : "connection failed". Please, can someone, especialy someone who have had the same problem as me, give me some help ? PS : I'm french and I'm just 14 so sorry if my english isn't perfect.

I have no experience of wireless, so I can't tell you very much. A good site to put this question is bbs.adslguide.co.uk, which has a Linux section and others. Even if the french broadband system is different from the UK, the wireless side will be the same. There is no need to apologise or even explain, there or here, for your English. As long as you don't cross-post [put the same message in different sections] on adslguide, you'll be alright,
PS : I'm french and I'm just 14 so sorry if my english isn't perfect.

LOL. 1] Politics: You are spouting. I know nothing about Adrien Ecoffet's politics. As he is only 14 years old, I don't think he has had a chance to develop into a small minded, nationalistic, warmongering, neo-fascist, religious hypocrite-bigot, or anything like that, so I made no comment about it. Bush said this: "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." Young Adrien's use of English was more capable than that. If you want to rebuke me for something, you could accuse me of damning Adrien with faint praise. 2] Why do you persist in putting people's email addresses in plain text in your reply headers? You really are the spammers' friend and you should know better if you presume to lecture on good behaviour on this list. As I have demonstrated to you in the past, archived messages are scraped by spammers. I'll repeat the exercise, and hopefully you will get it this time. For example, google on "200403121008.29341.suse@[redacted].eclipse.co.uk" where [redacted] = archipelago. Now look at the recent arrival in my in box below and tell me that the archives are not scraped for email addresses. Thanks for the laugh, though Vince

I expressed an opinion on Adrien Ecoffet's capabilities with English. AFAICS, he is not a politician, but if he posts here and is worried about his English, I will express an opinion. I would do the same for George Bush, but as he is a politician, I would have you know, I'd be interested to know whether you'd let him post in the first place.

Mr Shanahan, So what age behaviour is it when someone shows you that archives are scraped for email addresses, you carry on to include my email address in plain text in an email which goes to public archives? You've been told before, and having been told this time, you still go ahead and do it. Coming from you, I'm taking 14 years old as a mark of respect. Vince Littler

How so? I see no politics in what I wrote. I would agree what I said could be construed to imply that George Bush's command of the English language is less than perfect. As Bush does not join in on this list, I don't know whether he would understand my point about not including people's email addresses in plain text. But for all his issues, I would expect him to understand the point and act on it.

And your point is? Just for fun, after reading this I did a quick search of the net. Found a couple of addresses of yours. Easy to do. None of which were presented as plain text. They were in the message headers. Scrapers are smart enough to know this when searching for addresses.

Then you really need help in understanding what is political and what isn't. Mentioning GWB's name brings immediate overtones of a political statement. But I guess that doesn't happen where you live. -- Powered by SuSE 10.0 Kernel 2.6.13 KDE 3.4 Kmail 1.8

Yes, I know about those, and they are easy to filter deterministically to spam. The difficult ones are the ones with the address I use for the list, which I filter differently, to allow incoming offlist mail. I cannot think of a deterministic way of filtering spam to this address without taking offlist communications. Patrick is making that address quite dirty.

As in: "All the pretzels are gone" "I know who had them, that'll be..." "How dare you, you filthy liberal lowlife scum. You should have more respect". You're right. We are irreverent around here.
