Mozilla 1.3 problems
I've just installed Mozilla 1.3 (from the tarball on mozilla.org). It runs with one problem. have the Blackdown.org version of Java 1.4.1 (compiled with gcc 3.2). This version worked well with the previous version of Mozilla (1.2.1-1). Now, with Mozilla 1.3, the java plugin does not work. When i run it in the console, I get the following error: LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /usr/java/j2re1.4.1/plugin/i386/mozilla/javaplugin_oji.so [/usr/java/j2re1.4.1/plugin/i386/mozilla/javaplugin_oji.so: undefined symbol: _ZN16nsServiceManager23GetGlobalServiceManagerEPP17nsIServiceManager] has anyone else had this problem? Could this be another incompatibility between compiler versions? Was mozilla.org's 1.3 compiled with an older gcc? Rick

Have you run SuSEconfig? This fixed problems when I went from 1.0 to 1.2 way back when. I'm not using java plugins so I can't guarantee it'll work for this, but it might. Joe -- One place, one space, one face, disgrace. http://Firechild.net
I ran SuSEconfig as soon as I installed Mozilla. Everything seemed fine. So, I'm still searching. Rick On Fri, 2003-03-14 at 17:20, Joe Sullivan wrote:

It almost certainly is, my guess is that the previous version you were using was a SuSE RPM, which would have been compiled with gcc 3.2. I'm pretty sure the tarballs provided at mozilla.org are built with gcc 2.95.x. -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 8.1).
