One web slow, other faster - network errors
I'm running two Ethernet cards on my SuSE 8.0 server. It seems that one network is getting a lot more errors than the other causing some slowdown. The errors on my 78.53 address is acceptable, but the error rate on the 78.54 address is an awful lot higher. I'm running a website using SuSE 8.0, Apache 2 & MySQL Anyone know of any FAQ's they could point me to or some things to look at to determine the problem? When I do an ifconfig I get: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:05:5D:D0:29:80 inet addr:155.16.78.54 Bcast:155.16.78.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::205:5dff:fed0:2980/10 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:28104460 errors:1196 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:1724930 errors:85179 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:170358 collisions:37761 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:3367816044 (3211.7 Mb) TX bytes:1030990204 (983.2 Mb) Interrupt:10 Base address:0x2000 eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:2C:04:DA:D5 inet addr:155.16.78.53 Bcast:155.16.78.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::250:2cff:fe04:dad5/10 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:32429183 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:271880 errors:9291 dropped:0 overruns:2 carrier:18582 collisions:5105 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:1237269233 (1179.9 Mb) TX bytes:134078929 (127.8 Mb) Interrupt:11 Base address:0x4000 Any pointers in the right direction would be GREATLY appreciated. Carrier errors usually indicate some sort of problem with the physical media--e.g., bad cables, swtich ports, etc. Otherwise, it looks OK. -- -ckm
