Can't install OpenOffice.org due to uninstallable depeds
When trying to install OpenOffice 1.1 on SUSE 9.0 via apt-get, I get the message that it 'depends on libjawt.so but it is not installable.' Googling makes this appear to be connected with Java (which I don't have installed, but would be useful in other areas like browsers, so I'd like to install it). I've looked at the JPackage Project, but I'm not sure from their page what to put in my sources.list to get the packages. Hopefully these items are connected, and I appreciate your help. Thanks.

What directory do you mean?...I'm currently downloading j2sdk-1_4_2_03-linux-i586-rpm.bin from the Sun site. It says 'self-extracting' although I'm now sure how and where to install it. Thanks

Oh, I mean the rpm java2_ftpinstalls package in the same directory than the README doc. You simply install first the sun java rpm. To do that: Change the mode of the downloaded file: chmod 755 j2sdk-1_4_2_03*.rpm.bin Decompress the file sh j2sdk-1_4_2_03*rpm.bin It will give you a plain *.rpm file. Install it and then install the small rpm java2_installs. That's all. Guillermo - -- Guillermo Ballester Valor gbv@oxixares.com Ogijares, Granada SPAIN Linux user #117181.
