2.4.2 Kernel at SuSE ftp site
I orginally used the 2.4.2 kernel from kernel.org, could not get the modules working. I downloaded the linux-2.4.2.SuSE-1.tgz from ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mantel/next/ That kernel compiled and worked fine without any problems. What is different? Are their big changes that need to be done to use a new kernel with SuSE or is it just the location? I used YaST and it placed everything in /linux-2.4.2.SuSE . I was previously using /usr/src thanks in advance joe

Thank you *sooooo* much for posting! I was about to compile the kernel.org 2.4.2. You saved me time and a headache! -- Andrew L. Gould Director, Decision Support Services Shannon Medical Center
I would be curious to know, know that 7.1 is shipping, when some of these kernel updates are going to be put into the update tree as an RPM? - Herman joe wrote:

As soon as we have ironed out the last outstanding bugs. Stay tuned... The RPMs are in final test phase. LenZ Lenz,
FYI, I don't know if I did something wrong, or if there is a problem with the current kernel, but I'm having some problems with the reiser FS in the kernel I downloaded today from ftp.suse.com. It keeps telling me that the file system if failing checks when I boot. I am afraid to run the checks on it under that kernel, and I don't get the errors with the SuSE supplied 2.4.0 kernel. I can't get to the ftp site to investigate right now. Steve
No idea, I used kernel 2.4.2 from kernel.org with zero problems... Matt On Sat, 24 Feb 2001 03:12:28 joe wrote:
