Printer getting to be tiresome
Had an issue with Evolution causing a crash whilst printer was printing. Now printer has stopped and cannot be started, even via localhost:631, will not accept my root password. Any other ideas on getting it moving?

If http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2003/09/jsmeix_print-einrichten-90.html doesn't help then the chrash may have corrupted the spool files. Do rccups stop rm /var/spool/cups/c* rm /var/spool/cups/d* rm /var/spool/cups/tmp/* rccups start to re-start cupsd with totally clean spool directory. Of course this would remove all pending jobs and all job-data for the completed jobs. Some crashes can mess up the printer spooler.
Log in as root and:
First delete your print jobs with 'lprm -'
Then try '/etc/init.d/cups restart'
Has worked for me on Suse 9.0.
