OK, if ppp0 goes down (dialup you know) and I restart it, it seems like I have to bring down the firewall and restart it. Is this normally necessary, or am I doing something wrong? This is accomplished automatically by the /etc/ppp/ip-up script -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. I say, by the grace of God, I am what I am.

OK, I'm confused by ip-up (I'm not very good at bash). I've been using a simple shell/chat script for years. Are there some easy commands that I can just plug in? I looked at the rc startup stuff and there are so many firewall scripts that I don't know what to pick from. -- Jim Sabatke Hire Me!! - See my resume at http://my.execpc.com/~jsabatke Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup. One shouldn't have to take down the firewall to redial. Not sure the problem you're having, but I do know I gave up on kppp & kinernet in favor of wvdial. Make sure you have the FW_SERVICE_DHCLIENT set to yes in the Network>Firewall>SuSEfirewall2 dection of sysconfig. You can find it in YaST under System>Editor for sysconfig files. Dial up and FW_SERVICE_DHCLIENT has no relation as when you dial up you dont get your IP address via DHCP process -- Togan Muftuoglu | Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer | Please reply to the list; http://susefaq.sf.net | Please don't put me in TO/CC. Nisi defectum, haud refiecendum
