[opensuse] Multiple sound cards
I have a SuSE 10.0 machine that I sometimes plug in an external USB sound card into. Some applications lets you choose the output device, but is there a way to change the default audio device for ALL applications (like you could with Windows and Mac)? For example, I can't find a way to make Mozilla Firefox's change to the use USB sound (e.g., Youtube, etc). It always plays through the motherboard's built-in sound card... Also, kmix doesn't "see" the hotplugged USB sound card until I restart it. /etc/asound.conf or ~/.asoundrc is your friend!

You have to set the default mixer in .asoundrc o asound.conf, but flash seems to ignore it (at least some time ago). Perhaps now that flash uses alsa, it works. pcm.!default { type hw card 0 device 2 }
