Sorry for this ping mail, I've not received anything on this list in about 12 hours, but the archives seem to have plenty in them, with subjects I don't recall having seen. If I don't get this mail back, will mail SuSE :) -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org GNOME for SuSE: http://usr-local-bin.org/rpms

Yeah my SuSE mailing list feeds went dead too, for over 9 hours. I almost had a withdrawal seizure. :)

For future reference, if you want to test your connection to the suse mail server, you don't have to ping SLE, there is a test list set up specifically for this purpose Send a mail to test-list-subscribe@suse.com to subscribe. You will be automatically unsubscribed after 24h unless you do it manually

It's no use, in this case. Last week, on Monday, it happened to me, I had no SuSE lists email for more than 12 hours, but there were new email on the web server. I tried subscribing to test-list, but I got no answer. I sent a "ping" to the Spanish list, didn't receive it, but I saw it instead on the web archive. Some people answered, they were getting list mail, but not me and some others. Then I wrote to feedback, on their web page, and within 20 minutes I started receiving all the delayed mail. It also happened last sept 15th, but this time even the web archive gave some thing like "forbidden". That time feedback acknowledged the problem (not the list admin, though). -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

"no use"? I guess that depends on what you were trying to find out. The fact that you didn't get a reply from test-list told you there was some problem with the connection between the list and you, and so did the fact that you saw posts in the archive that you hadn't received. What else did you hope to find out by pinging the list instead of the test-list?

Not instead, I tried both - and not this list, but the spanish one, which is much lower volume. The test list was not responding. The suse-linux-s worked, and some listers answered, so I got further info. The only info I got from test-list was that it wasn't working, and that I already knew. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
