hello, am tyring to use skype with suse 9.2. rpm installs fine, skype starts fine, lists my online contacts,when contact calls me, i see call coming in but i hit answer and nothing happens. it continues to show "calling" ame when i dial online contact what could be the problem? cheers, ernest

I have skype installed here, on two different machines both running 9.2. Both are updated via YOU, and one is updated to the newest apt at gwdg.de (an amd64 machine). Skype works perfectly, dial in and dial out.

me too have Skype installed (Version 0.93.0.3) which works fine on my SuSE 9.2. I had the same or a similiar problem with Version 0.92.x.x until I updated to the newer version. Which version do you have? You may also call me at MartinDeppe (Skype)

i installed skype-0.93.0.3-suse rpm from the skype website yesterday. it immediately got the above problems. I am now running YOU, may be the problem could get solved somehow.. but i wonder what the problem is.. i see callers calling, but i cant answer them, nothing happens when i hit answer! cheers, ernest

The only suggestion I can come up with is to rpm -e skype and reinstall, it's been fine here both on SuSE 9.2 and Mandrake 10.1. The file size is 4257524 bytes, just in case --- skype-0.93.0.3-suse.i386.rpm. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Go to the Skype site, Community Linux Forum Read the Faq on Linux Sound. Skype still uses oss, so you have to have some emulation of oss, or you have to run skype thru artsdsp. Try the command line /opt/kde3/bin/artsdsp /usr/bin/skype or just artsdsp skype -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

I've got the same problem on a 9.2 notebook. I have to restart the sound system ('rcalsasound restart') and start skype again. Afterwards I can answer calls. I'm not sure what the issue is, I suspect the sound card driver, since the microphone input has a lot of noise and conversations show considerable delays and echos. Skype on W98 on the same machine does not show these symptoms, as long as the whole OS does not fall over when somebody calls. HTH Michael
