[opensuse] Console video config
Hi all, I am new of opensuse mailing list although I am using opensuse/Suse since 9.0 release :-) Since 10.2 release, using a flat monitor, I have an annoying problem: the system console (using ALT+F1/2... etc etc) is not well configured about screen position, and the first 5/6 chars on the left are out of the screen, even if the x server is well-positioned and configured when loaded. It happens also to the the bootsplash image or all the boot messages (using escape during boot) How can I try to control/modify the linux console's screen settings? Thank you in advance, Valerio -- ********************************************* Valerio Bontempi Blog: http://mithland.wordpress.com/ ********************************************* -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I just let the monitor auto-adjust utility fix the position. Have your monitor that option? -- Kind Regards Visitá/Go to >> http://www.opensuse.org Nry隊Z)z{.ﮞ˛m)z{.+Z+ib*'jW(fvǦj)hǾi

What video card do you use? I had the same problem with Suse 10.3, with nvidia. Corrected by running nvidia-xconfig and nvidia-settings. -ED-

For me, it wasjust as simple as I stated above. I ran: nvidia-config Then ran: nvidia-settings This one gave me a gui where I checked settings. Then I rebooted, and it came up centered perfectly. -ED- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It doesn't work for me. If I fix console/boot messages, then X is not well tuned. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I had problems with my Nvidia card until I discovered the following solution: Go to http://en.opensuse.org/NVIDIA and look for "The easy way." Hans -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Good point, Hans; This is where I started. I didn't think to question driver installation differences; not that experienced yet. -ED- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
