Hi All, I would like to be able to not have my SuSE 9.1 laptop which hangs off a cable modem not return ping. I have configured through yast the firewall and don't have anything open but according to shields up! I am still returning ping replies. How do I turn it off? Thank you, Phil

There may be a way to do it thru Yast that does the same thing, but I would just edit /etc/sysconf/SuSEfirewall2 and change FW_ALLOW_PING_FW to "no". Then "rcSuSEfirewall2 restart". HTH, Jeffrey

Thank you Jeffrey! That did it. Much obliged. Although I did find that /etc/sysconf/SuSEfirewall2 should read /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2. I just wanted to mention this for clarity and isn't meant to mean any disrespect. Phil
