Hi all, Does anyone know about when we can expect the next SuSE to come out? Neither - it's 12.1. openSUSE is on a 8month schedule, so it will be out in November. Thanks, I'll look at this. BTW what happened to 12.0? Did I miss it? Also I don't know why but since I upgraded to 11.4 my system will lock up 2 to 5 times per day. The mouse will move, but nothing else works at all. I end up having to hard reboot. It is the only real problem I'm having with 11.4. BTW I'm runing a HP with a Samsung SyncMaster 2494HS screen with dual boot Win7 & SuSE 11.4. I got the box about a year ago from Expert in Straubing. Since it was not happening before I'm guessing its a software problem. JIM -- The US was colonized by the religious, political, economic, and criminal rejects of every country in the world. Jim, I suggest you follow the excellent articles on news.opensuse.org like: http://news.opensuse.org/2011/04/06/plus-ca-change-plus-cest-la-meme-chose/

Let's discuss this separately. Did you install all updates? IF not, please do. You can also try a newer kernel, e.g. check: http://www.h-online.com/open/features/Upgrading-openSUSE-to- Linux-3-0-1337231.html If that does not help, please file a bugreport as described at bugs.opensuse.org.

Thanks for this link. I had not heard of the change. But I like it, good idea.

I'll study this, thanks.

I try to keep up with the changes. I run the auto-update that tells me when an update is ready. Normally about once every 2-3 days. This lock up does not happen with Win7. When I upgrade I do a full install, but I keep my /home.

I'll try the kernel upgrade first and if I'm still getting the lock up I'll make a bug report. Thanks! Typically lockups are video driver problems, so before filing a bug, report here which video chip you have (output of 'lspci grep VGA') and the driver reported in use by /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Someone here may know how you can avoid the lockups, or already may have, which you can find searching the mailing list archives for your video chip. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
