ftp.gwdg.de really slow recently?
Hi, I have been using the apt repositories at ftp.gwdg.de for a while now. I have never had any problems with them. However, I have been observing lately that it has become really slow in the last month or so. Does anyone share this experience? Does anyone have any recommendation for a ftp mirror (preferably in us) that is updated reasonably quickly and has apt repositories mirrored? thanks, -- Osho

Yes, it has got a lot more congested recently - possibly because of the interest in openSUSE? -- Pob hwyl / Best wishes Kevin Donnelly www.kyfieithu.co.uk - Meddalwedd Rhydd yn Gymraeg www.cymrux.org.uk - Linux Cymraeg ar un CD
I encountered the same problem. Now I use ftp.hosteurope.de. Regards, Francesco Osho GG wrote:

Yep - I've switched to using mirror.switch.ch or ftp.mirror.ac.uk (this one is really good). /Per Jessen, Zürich

Can you tell me what the directory is for apt4suse on mirror.ac.uk (or alternatively, the sources.list entry)? I can't seem to see it on the apt4rpm page. Thanks. -- Pob hwyl / Best wishes Kevin Donnelly www.kyfieithu.co.uk - Meddalwedd Rhydd yn Gymraeg www.cymrux.org.uk - Linux Cymraeg ar un CD

I would also like to know if there is a mirror for ftp.gwdg.de that one can use for apt repositories? The other mirrors that are mentioned in this thread do not seem to have apt repository. thanks, Osho

ftp.gwdg.de is doing a marvelous job supporting SuSE. Please make every effort to utilize mirror sites as the increasing load from supporting openSUSE is a tremendous strain of their resources. Using the mirror sites is a benefit to all of us, SUSE and ftp.gwdg.de. thanks, -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2
