suse 5.1. for some reason my root password has "changed" and the password I have used for three weeks is no longer being accepted. There was some mail about this a few weeks ago but I can't find the info. Can someone point me in the right direction. I would prefer to not reload my system. thanks denis -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

1. It is possible that your password has password aging. Recheck that mail you got. 2. If 1. is not true, is your machine (sometimes) connected, e.g. via a modem, or have other people access to the machine? If either might be possible, you must assume your machine got hacked. This would mean saving all the log files (in any case) and at least comparing all binary and data files, if not reinstall. 3. You can get acess to your machine by booting from the floppy or CD-Rom. Now you can reset (or set) a password by hand. -Wolfgang -- PGP 2 welcome: Mail me, subject "send PGP-key". If you've nothing at all to hide, you must be boring. I guess not. -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
