[opensuse] font editors
Pardon my ignorance, but where do I search for free fonts editor in the openSUSE repos? I am looking to get back into font editing, but I don't want to spends a lot of money (over 500 USD) on font editors for Windows (ugh) or Mac OS X (less ugh). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

-> zypper se font produces at least 1, FontForge You can also approach this in reverse by using Google "open source font editor" And then look for package in OBS based on what Google returns. https://build.opensuse.org/search And if you find one in Google that you might like to use and you cannot find in OBS, then it would be great if you would create a package ;) Later, Robert -- Robert Schweikert MAY THE SOURCE BE WITH YOU Public Cloud Architect LINUX rjschwei@suse.com IRC: robjo

Thanks for the tips, this will be useful for other packages I may want. FontForge is the way to go for now, but its interface is really clunky compared to commercial editors I have used, which have not and probably will not be ported to Linux. And even if they were, they would not be free. If I find another open source font editor, I will look into building it, it would be a great way to break into OBS.

fontforge
Ah yes, FontForge. I had forgotten about this font editor. I've used it in the past, and it is a pain to build it from source, but I see there is an openSUSE package for this. I will probably give it another try as I might modify a broken Indic font (reported in the openSUSE bug tracker). But that depends on my free time, I have plenty to do during the day.
