[SLE] RE: Running VNC from Gnome menu
This sounds familiar. A number of us that have used VNC successfully for some time using versions <= SuSE 6.4 are now experiencing problems authenticating when using Xvnc in SuSE 7.0. Running vncviewer from the command line works great, but not with the GUI popup. This question has cropped up on the SuSE mailing list, too. I wonder if there is a problem with some kernel patch, or maybe XFree86 4.0x. That is just wild conjecture on my part, though. Anybody out there have any definite answers to this problem ? I am cc-ing the SuSE list, since some quality members of SuSE's staff monitor that list, and maybe they'll pick up on this issue and fix it for us. Bye for now, Stuart. -----Original Message----- From: owner-vnc-list@uk.research.att.com [mailto:owner-vnc-list@uk.research.att.com]On Behalf Of David Rock Sent: Monday, October 09, 2000 5:09 PM To: vnc-list@uk.research.att.com Subject: Running VNC from Gnome menu I had a RedHat 6.2 system that allowed me to run the vncviewer from a menu item like this: "vncviewer -shared" This would bring up the servername box and then the password box and then give me the session window. The problem I have now is: I have a RedHat 7.0 system that I have removed the included vnc files and replaced with the files from the site. When I try to do the same thing as above, I get the servername and password boxes, but never get the vnc session. If I run vncviewer from a terminal window, it works fine but leaves the terminal window open behind it. Any ideas?
