There were reps from three of the local Utah LUGs that were able to attend BrainShare 2004. A special combined Utah Linux user group meeting with Miguel De Icaza was held as well with over 230 attendees. The groups associated with the event were: * Salt Lake Linux Users Group (http://www.sllug.org) * Provo Linux Users Group (http://www.plug.org) * BYU Unix Users Group (http://uug.clubs.byu.edu) * Novell Users International (http://www.nuinet.com) * Linux Users International (http://www.luinet.org) Pics available here: http://www.sllug.org/modules.php?set_albumName=miguel_de_icaza_and_brainshare2004&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php Yea, it's a long URL. If it gets messed up go to http://www.sllug.org then click on the "Gallery" link in the left-hand menu. Marsee Henon from O'Reilly really came through for us and provided a 40 lb. box of books to give away at the event! Everyone really enjoyed the books. Big thanks to Novell and Novell Users International (NUI) who sponsored the room and A/V equipment at the SLC Downtown Marriott hotel. -- Marc Christensen http://www.sllug.org marc (aT) sllug.org

Hi all, I should also mention that VIPs Jeremy Allison (Samba Co-creator) and John H. Terpstra (Samba core-team member and author) were both in attendance at BrainShare and the Miguel presentation. Their pictures taken at the presentation are also included in the gallery linked to in my original email. In case, you don't have the original message, go to http://www.sllug.org and click on the "Gallery" link in the left-hand menu. Thanks, -- Marc Christensen http://www.sllug.org marc (aT) sllug.org
Love the pics, thanks to Marc (and others) for them. How do I get a copy of the "Ubiquitous Linux" Slide? It will be perfect to get something through to a "business manager", like linux is on the "way in"! regards scsijon At 12:33 AM 28/03/2004, Marc Christensen wrote:

Good question. I would check the Novell BrainShare site for any downloads relating to the conference. BTW, they have all the keynotes in realvideo format and some pretty sweet videos too. Check out the Lord of the Net spoof: http://www.novell.com/brainshare/lord_of_the_net_real.ram The really cool thing is that all the presentations at BrainShare were done in OpenOffice - NOT Microsoft! 8^) Saweet! -- Marc C.
