A couple of days ago, someone said that they were running Corel Office 2000, with Corel's version of WINE. I inquired whether they were running the WINDOWS version of Corel Office 2000, or what, but have received no answer. Does anybody know if Corel 2000 (for Windows) runs under Corel's version of WINE, and if so, how well? (I have the Corel 2000 for Win, and it would be nice if it ran under Corel's WINE.) Or must I buy a Linux version that runs under WINE anyway? Or what? Thanx for replies to my email address--the list may also be interested. --doug
Corel's Linux products are modified Windows excutables that run under a modified version of Wine. I'd give the Windows versions a try, I've had luck running Windows software under Corel Wine (it's better than normal WINE, I think). -Tim On Tuesday 01 May 2001 08:55 pm, you wrote:

I'd agree with that Tim. Corel did make substantial improvements to WINE. But, as WINE development continues it is still the longest running 'ALPHA' software in the Linux community. I used to follow the releases weekly. What worked last week wouldn't work this week. But, using the version of WINE that comes with SuSE 7.1 I was able to get Street Atlas 5.0 to run perfectly. Quicken didn't. Neither did QuickVerse 3.0. Such is life. JLK "Timothy R.Butler" wrote:

No, Corel Office 2000 that runs on top of WINE uses Win32 API calls which WINE intercepts, but, AFAIK, it is not the WinXX executables, but a heavily modified version that runs on Linux with the support of WINE. I know what you're thinking .... You'll just copy the 'executables' to your windows side and run CO2000 there. Right? JLK Doug McGarrett wrote:

Do I understand you to mean that you're running the Windows version of
Corel Office 2000 under WINE? ...

<snip> Nope. I am running Linux Corel Office 2000, which employs wine. What I found useful, was the updated installer script & wine. *BFN* Greek Geek :-) <snip>
