I have a weird situation. If I am using the 2.2.15 kernel I have compiled when I want to add a package for the SUSE CDs via YAST I received a message that the installation media was not found I am using IDE ATAPI CDRW with scsi emulation. I can burn CD's so there is nothing wrong with the emulation. If I switch to the 2.2.14.SUSE kernel I have compiled again with the scsi emulation suddenly YAST says EURAKA for the installation media. Any ideas why YAST is not working with 2.2.15 Thanks -- Togan Muftuoglu toganm@turk.net -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
Togan, Here is a hint: when you recompile to do this, you are no longer using an IDE CDRW. Now you are running a SCSI emulated CDRW. So, your drive has changed. Check /dev/scd* devices. Also, you want to change the link from /dev/cdrom to point at the new location for the cd. Trust me - this got me the first time I did it too. Took me about 3 hours to finally figure out what I goofed up. Randy Rathbun randy@rrr.2y.net http://rrr.2y.net/ If Bill Gates had a nickle for every time Windows crashed...
