[SLE] How to turn power off after shutdown?
Hello linux folks, Congratulations to all Americans with the Independence Day! I hope that some time linux community can kick M$'s ass out of the world dominance as Americans did it to England a long time ago. I got a question about possibility to power off automatically my Linux box after shutdown. What script should be executed when system is down and halted to turn power off? Or maybe it is possible to do it in more easy way? My motherboard supports SMART power management. What should be enabled in kernel in this case? Thank you for any suggestions. :-) Interesting how many people are still fighting the U.S. revolutionary war, isn't it? ... but even more idiots are still fighting our Civil War. Personally, I'm an internationalist. To the point: good question re: automatic powerdown. Anybody know how much can|cannot be controlled at the lower level of PeeCee-type hardware? Are BIOS-level toggles totally beyond kernel control? gary

Do you have the APM kernel installed? -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

Assuming you have APM compiled in your kernel, do a 'poweroff' instead of
'halt'

I would tell you but I take objection to xenophobic remarks on a list read world-wide, even if they are in jest. On Mon, 3 Jul 2000, Alex Daniloff wrote:

I don't believe the gentlemans remark falls under the definition of Xenophobic...and you shouldn't play this "nanananan..I'm not gonna tell you because you don't think like I do " attitude. It's rude and not very becoming. Either help the poor guy or don't, but to accuse him of being xenophobic because he is stateing something that is part of history is just not very nice. -------------- xen·o·phobe (zn-fb, zn-) n. A person unduly fearful or contemptuous of that which is foreign, especially of strangers or foreign peoples. -------------- * wulfie (wulfie@wulfric7.co.uk) [000705 18:33]:
