Originally to: All Hello All! I installed SuSE 7.3 I have a few peoblems. :-) It happened a few times that the system crashed. Nothing worked, keyboard, mouse, nothing. The casp lock and scroll lock leds blinked. I have seen other people write about this but I lost my msgbase so I can''t trace the msgs back. Somethine else is the KDE menu editor. With 7.1 I made my own menu entry so I tried it with 7.3 but I can nowhere find my entry. The leftmost button on the taskbar used to have that entry but I am a little confused about taskbar. I am not used to it yet. Another thing is the terminal screen. When I use the END key (end HOME etc) there is an Escape generated. Like if there is an ansi sequence generated. Hoe can I get this back the way I like it? With SuSE 7.1 I used the VT1200 terminal but that seems no longer to work now. Any help is appreciated. Is it possible to change the filesystem from ext2 to JFS or Reiser? Without a new install of course :-) ? Kees <-> Gateway Information. That button has gone!? How can I put it back in my taskbar?
Right click on the taskbar (it's called the kicker, by the way), choose Panel -> Add -> K Menu regards Anders

AJ> Right click on the taskbar (it's called the kicker, by the way), AJ> choose Panel -> Add -> K Menu Ah... THANKS a lot! The only thing is.. how can I change the icon? I tried right clicking, then properties and change the icon but it does not work. But I''m glad to have the Kmenu button back :-) Kees <-> Gateway Information. In the menu editor, insert your entry into the "suse" submenu. The entry will then appear when you klick the "K"-button.

No. If you don't want to reinstall you'll have to make a backup of the whole partition, reformat with the new filesystem and restore the backup. The only (to the best of my knowledge) filesystems you can go between without touching the data are ext2 <==> ext3. regards Anders

:-) Perhaps I might do that some day.. but I just installed linux from scratch and All my programs are working again. AJ> The only (to the best of my knowledge) filesystems you can go between AJ> without touching the data are ext2 <==> ext3. Perhaps I will do that. The installation went wrong, a few times, so at the end I have chosen for ext2 and I installed from another CD device. So I don''t know what caused the trouble, the filesystem (Reiser in this case) or the other CD drive. I think it was the CD drive. Kees <-> Gateway Information.
