[opensuse] upgrading 11.4
Hello SuSE people, Trying to upgrade 11.4 from the command line with a zypper up. It goes through the whole routine of what it is going to do and then brings up the license agreement and stops. I can scroll to the end but I can't agree to it because it never gets that far. Anybody can tell me what is happening here? AFAIK, openSUSE 11.4 is in milestone phase so the license agreement encourage you (need your agreement) to know the limitation and the risk of beta software to be implemented for production usage. The stable edition (11.3, next 11.4) will not ask you whether you agree or not, only display the license without asking for agree or not. -- Best Regards, Masim "Vavai" Sugianto /************************************************************/ Blog (ID) : http://www.vavai.com Excellent Infotama Kreasindo : http://www.vavai.biz /************************************************************/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

What do you mean never gets that far? It's just displaying a text file in less, so just press q to exit less. -- bkw -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

WowBrian that was fast. Thanks for replying. Yes, that is what I do, press g. But the text file just re-appeasrs. I can press g until the cows come home and I only get the agreement again. not "g", but "q". and after that, you'll have to agree by typing "yes <enter>". this happened to me some time ago, but even after accepting the licence, i got a segfault. reason for this was a bug in libzypp: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=654600 . if your libzypp <= libzypp-8.8.0, you're likely to encounter it. in factory it's libzypp-8.10.2-2.1.x86_64 by now; don't know which one's on your system. -- phani. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Note that 11.4 is currently experimental. Upgrade instructions: a) add the repositories, and disable all 11.3 repos b) upgrade libzypp and friends FIRST, "zypper in zypper" will probably do the trick c) Upgrade your system using zypper dup (yes, DUP not up) d) ???? f) profit -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.15 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk0HYNkACgkQhbiInYWJi9PG5wCePMfom23MDPGmuFdVE5P9hqof arEAn0Bd0bTUdDYpFyZrOnHpBUYCkfks =NJTx -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Cristian Your advice posted here may help others. I didn't mean upgrade from 11.3 to 11.4. Just to upgrade 11.4 itself. I have 11.4 as a separate install. Bob S -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

using zypper dup as well, if it fails with some kind of conflict, wait a few hours and try again. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.15 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk0Inh8ACgkQhbiInYWJi9OUawCgxQO/jrNAVrlqG7y6r9H/qgfB fN4AnjazVLT+gJCC6KWq2XW5CFk/pwSo =Ra7+ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
