No PPoe or any special connection protocol? How about router, firewall, gateway, etc? If nothing special, and I don't think it any different than 8.x, but I only have 7.3, this might help. Go to Yast2. Networkbasic. network card configuration and enter your information. All the information should be given by your ip. You'll need ip address (you said was fixed) and a subnet mask (generally 255.255.255.0, but that depends on you isp or router). You'll also enter your dns address('s) in the name server list. And you'll have to enter a router/gateway for you isp under routing. Then go to adsl (also from 7.3, shouldn't be too much different in 8.x , but still under network basics) and enter your user info, password etc, and tell it to use the network card you just set up. Hope it helps. I'll assume someone much wiser will give you specifics for your version shortly. Just giving you something to work with for now which should get you there. Unless, of course, the layout of Yast2 has changed drastically in 8.x. Hope it helps, will
I thought DSL is basically a USB modem (never seen one), the doc I just saw mentioned an ethernet connection to the DSL modem, so I'm not sure what your connection looks like. A few other details from "ifconfig", "route -n", "ls -l /dev/modem" and /etc/resolv.conf would also help an overall view of your setup. See if this stuff is of any use.......... http://linuxnewbies.editthispage.com/tips/20020219 Regards Sid. Jefferson Formiga wrote:

how did you set this up? are u using 2 network cards? are u using the susefirewall? If your suse box connected directly to the dsl, you could use either 2 NIC cards if you want to share this connection or you can use just 1 NIC but you have to setup the susefirewall a bit different. I've done this both ways....when done properly each way works great. Good luck, Oskar
