In 8.1, I could reboot the system without having to drop into root mode. I know that's considered a security hole, but as I'm the only one using the system (unless I have a very computer literate beagle), it's not a hole I'm worried about. Does anyone know how to configure this behavior in 8.2? ---Michael

sudo &/or su1 will provide that ability. -- Patrick Shanahan Please avoid TOFU and trim >quotes< http://wahoo.no-ip.org Registered Linux User #207535 icq#173753138 @ http://counter.li.org Linux, a continuous *learning* experience

In 8.1 you could go to yast2>system>editor for sysconfig then go to base-administration>display>kde_shutdown you can also edit /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager KDM_SHUTDOWN="all" They may only be for init 5 and the kdm, however. But maybe it'll help. For console shutdowns I always did chmod +s to /sbin/init, as I am the only user on the pc, so not much need for security on that. -John -=JericAtSbcglobalDotNetwork=- 64 days 40 hrs min, since last reboot.
