[SLE] Running 2 instances of named?
Not sure, but I think this is possible right? But would it be possible to this way run 2 primary nameserves (different domains like ns.newdomain.com, ns.olddomain.com) with same IP in the A record? All on one the same box. I'm thinking of this as a temporary solusion while I change the pointer for all my virtual domains from old nameserver to the new one, and then the old will go out of service. The bottom line is that I HAVE to change the nameserver of reasons not relevant to the configuration matter. Is this possible? Well, sure. At my former job, we had one single linux box that acted as the primary DNS and mail server for about 40 different domains. What I want is simply this: now all my virtual domains have their pointer to ns.currdomain.com on ip 1.2.3.4 and I will change their pointer to ns.newdomain.com on ip 1.2.3.4 (all fictive data ofcause), but need to have the new ns up before so change can take place smoothly without disturbance for the virtual domain owners. The currdomain.com will then "retire" as ns, but continue live as an ordinary virtual domain, just serving web and mail for that domain. /Joakim Lenz Grimmer skrev:
