Latest NVidia (4496) on United Linux 1.0?
Hi! Have anyone gotten this combination to work? Nvidia's latest video driver (4496) on United Linux 1.0? The card in question is a GeForce2 MX-400, but I also tried with a newer GeForce4 TI-4800 without success. I went through all the steps outlined in the SuSE document that Nvidia points to at their site, ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/X/XFree86/nvidia-installer-HO WTO.html and I followed it to the letter. Still, no luck. I get it up so far to a reboot into run level 3, I go to SaX2, enable 3D for the card and then it goes blank for a second or two, and then just a light grey screen and a system hang. I have to reboot again and remove the nvidia driver to make the system run in level 5 again. Any ideas on this, please? Anders Norrbring Norrbring Consulting Halmvägen 42 SE-691 48 Karlskoga SWEDEN

<snip> I've been seeing a few people having problems with the latest nvidia installation. I even downloaded it myself, but haven't tried to install it yet *because* I started to see other people having troubles with it. I think for the nonce, it'd be best to just stick with the older one for now (4363 IIRR), it worked at least, heh.
