Re: [SLE] MP3 Player recommendations for Linux
I am no pro but I I use Xine because it is usually installed on SuSE/Red
Hat by default. Has always worked well and should be Open Source??? My
problem as always is getting my damn sound cards to work under Linux.

Here is the writeup from that link:
About:
xine is a free multimedia player. It plays back CDs, DVDs, and VCDs. It
also decodes multimedia files like AVI, MOV, WMV, and MP3 from local disk
drives, and displays multimedia streamed over the Internet. It interprets
many of the most common multimedia formats available--and some of the most
uncommon formats, too. All those features come in a reusable library
(xine-lib) which can easily be embedded in your applications.

I also found that there was a program to allow me to use Linux with it since music transfer was software driven. I have to use Midnight Commander to transfer files up and down, but it works pretty well....so far. I had a Muvo but it konked out on me and it had it's limitations. Thanks to all for the input. Tom
I'm trying to get an MP3 player, but I want to get something that will work with Linux....meaning something that I don't need to use software with. Can anyone make any recommendations? I'd like to keep it under $250.
