I have created the openSUSE Wiki Project , based loosely on the normal community page of other Wikis. It is not my page, but a place to help coordinate some efforts on the wiki. There is some editing help and I have also created some wiki templates, suggestions for others welcome. If you are starting some documentation section or project, and want some Wiki help, add a link in the Open Task section, and describe what you want help with. Equally as important - if you have a few minutes (hours, days, weeks :-) and want to help out, but you are not sure what with, this is an ideal starting point. The Hardware Compatibity List is just getting started, and could do with some help. There are also a couple of points about the Wiki setup I would like see changed: 1. There should be a direct link from the left column on openSUSE.org to the Community Wiki documentation. It could be called 'Community' or 'Wiki' or 'Community Documentation', the name of the link is probably not that important. 2. The CSS style sheet has Heading 1 and Heading 2 looking too similar. See http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/User:Pflodo/Style_Page 3. On the category pages, there is too much white space at the top above the list of articles. eg: http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/Category:Hardware_Compatibility_List (you will need to scroll down to see the articles) Peter. http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/User:Pflodo
It might help if I included a link to it: http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/OpenSUSE_Wiki_Project

I have added a link to that from "How to participate". Changing the left-hand navigation needs more discussion, let's see how this approach develops. We have now: http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/Community_hub http://opensuse.org/index.php/Community_discussion_page http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/OpenSUSE_Wiki_Project Can we consolidate these a bit, maybe? Ill let User:jdd defend his own two pages, but OpenSUSE Wiki Project is a project page to coordinate contributors, it is not a visitor navigational page for the Community pages that it will help to create. Regards, Peter Flodin.

I don't want really to defend anything :-). I didn't advertise these pages because I think it's a bit too early. As I see the thing, there are actually only a few peoples participating on the wiki and the work of any of them is visible in "recent changes" (I don't forget the Novell corps, very responsives and helpfull). I think there is to be many kinds of users, but some will be more "permanent" than others. They will make a sort of community. Some of them more on the beta test side, some more on the documentation side, some on the wiki side, etc. We can explain this on our own personal page, but I will create a page for listing the group :-) this group will have particular needs, for example the hub page is for them, there is a need for grouped links without too much explanations when one know where he want's to go (the initial pages have links spread in many comments) jdd -- pour m'écrire, aller sur: http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.net http://arvamip.free.fr

I have also made some efforts in that way (see your project discussion page) - we should merge them

It's a little to early. we must first group our efforts and set a common layout
3. On the category pages, there is too much white space at the top above the list of articles. eg:
I already filled a bug report on this and it is fixed (to be seen soon on the server) Notice that I'm not a novell corp :-) jdd -- pour m'écrire, aller sur: http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.net http://arvamip.free.fr
