In 9.1, libgcrypt.so.7 is in the package libgcrypt on the CDs, I don't see any libgcrypt.so.10 released for a suse version anywhere

hmm. This is what I'm seeing: miverna:/home/nqs/Desktop # apt install gaim evolution-data-server libsoup libgcrypt Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done libgcrypt is already the newest version. Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: evolution-data-server: Depends: libgcrypt.so.7 Depends: libgnutls.so.10 gaim: Depends: libgcrypt.so.7 Depends: libgnutls.so.10 Depends: libgnutls.so.10(GNUTLS_REL_1_0) libsoup: Depends: libgcrypt.so.7 Depends: libgnutls.so.10 Depends: libgnutls.so.10(GNUTLS_REL_1_0) E: Broken packages miverna:/home/nqs/Desktop # i ran upgrade, but the above is what i got after doing that Joe -- SuSE Linux 9.1 (i586) Kernel: 2.6.8-20041029200618-default / i686 | Posted from: miverna 4:22pm up 2 days 4:34, 3 users, load average: 0.32, 0.27, 0.28 43rd Law of Computing: Anything that can go wr fortune: Segmentation violation -- Core dumped nqs@tmcom.com | http://tigger.tmcom.com/~nqs/blogger.html

Yeah, it says libgnutls.so.10 though, not libgcrypt.so.10. libgnutls.so.10 is in the package gnutls which is both on the CDs and in the evolution-devel-snapshot channel Someone else will have to explain why apt isn't picking it up

Whoops. anyhow I found the conflict in GPG2. removed it, gpgme, and libgcrypt, reinstalled the CD version of libgcrypt, and then was able to just ask for gaim. Because, the base packages are not released by suse. As such the apt repository does not provide these packages. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
