Ispell does not work on the Suse Linux 8.1. More precisely running at the shell level I get the following message: ============================== % ispell -d francais essai Illegal format hash table /usr/lib/ispell/francais.hash - expected magic2 0x9602, got 0x4649 ============================== I imagine that the "francais" dictionnary has not been properly set. Am I right? How can I fix this? Pierre

I checked on my 8.1 system, it works well. The only thing I did was to replace the french dictionary (package ispell-french) by the Gutenberg one (package ispell-french-gutenberg). Maybe the former is buggy, but the latter works. Installing this alternative french dictionary is recommanded, as it is much bigger (i.e. more complete). - -- Thibaut Cousin E-mail : cousin@in2p3.fr Web : http://clrwww.in2p3.fr -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE91Pb+v1vqsTa1E4oRAu38AKCYqgURDlIeW2aQw8prWp30rOo2CwCfS8qe vH7HtSF5cW/+DFys5UUkLJ8= =rCQD -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
Thanks. My problem was that the upgrade with yast2 is so automatic, that I did not notice that I was running an old version of ispell called "ifrench". Now with ispell-french-gutenberg it works perfectly well: c'est-à-dire «vachement bien !» Merci. Pierre
