At my old windows-system (W95) i had a beautifull screensaver (unilead?) with a lot of jpg-pictures of my grandchildren, showed the one after the other. How can i do this in Linux (SuSE 7). I tried Xscreensaver, but i always get the fault "Xscreensaver deamon doesn't seem to be running on display ':0.0'". Is there a solution or an alternative? Kind regards Frans
It's not a screen saver but if your using kde2.0.1 there is an option in the kde controll center ; look and feel ; desktop ; background ; wallpaper ; select multiple ; then setup. It just lets you cycle thru wall papers on your desktop at certain configurable intervals. Like I said though it's not a screensaver. -- Mark Hounschell markh@compro.net

Please try the slideshow screensaver option in the screensavers under KDE2. It should work for what is being looked for.... :)
What kind of images does it take, jpg? When I tried it, it failed to see my daughter's +500 jpg files! Thanks, Alvaro Novo SuSE 6.4 -=- Kernel 2.2.17 -=- KDE 2.0.1 1:12pm up 3 days, 37 min, 6 users, load average: 0.06, 0.03, 0.00

Hey Ben that's pretty cool. I think I might just use that one (slide show) On a side ? do ya know of any reason the gl-screensavers in there don't work? All my other opengl apps run great. Q3, ssystem at 100fps,etc...? Well Q3 only works in kde1, but everything else seems to. -- Mark Hounschell markh@compro.net

You know. I don't know why they don't work. I am Helix Gnome guy myself. I just putz with KDE2 so that I know what it's all about. I have tried to use OpenGL SS in KDE2 myself with no success. All the other OpenGL stuff I have works as well.
At work I have a Mesa installed, and the OpenGL screensavers work fine. At home I use the NVidia drivers, and it does not work. I suspect that the kde screensavers may be using some Mesa specific functions and (there are few of them) and these symbols won't be found in a non-mesa library, so it probably pukes on startup. This is just a guess though.
I don't even know the default format for the pics..could someone post it..so I don't have to bother the developers *grin*.
