Hi, I have SuSE 7.2 and I have updated to the official SuSE kernel 2.4.7. I am trying to configure my web cam Philips TouCam USB. I load the modules and all work fine with options size=qsif y fps=30 but when I run xawtv I can not see nothing. The output from xawtv is: x11: 1024x768, 16 bit/pixel, 2048 byte/scanline, DGA /dev/video: no overlay support v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway ioctl: VIDIOCGAUDIO(0,,flags=0x0,vol=0,balance=0,bass=0,treble=0,mode=0x0,step=0): Invalid argument config: invalid value for input: Composite1 valid choices for "input": "Webcam" ioctl: VIDIOCGAUDIO(0,,flags=0x0,vol=0,balance=0,bass=0,treble=0,mode=0x0,step=0): Invalid argument ioctl: VIDIOCGAUDIO(0,,flags=0x0,vol=0,balance=0,bass=0,treble=0,mode=0x0,step=0): Invalid argument ioctl: VIDIOCSAUDIO(0,,flags=0x0,vol=0,balance=0,bass=0,treble=0,mode=0x0,step=0): Invalid argument ioctl: VIDIOCGAUDIO(0,,flags=0x0,vol=0,balance=0,bass=0,treble=0,mode=0x0,step=0): Invalid argument ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=0,size=0x0): Device or resource busy ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=3,size=64x48): Invalid argument ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=4,size=64x48): Invalid argument ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=5,size=64x48): Invalid argument ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=1,size=64x48): Invalid argument ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=7,size=64x48): Invalid argument ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=13,size=64x48): Invalid argument grab: no match for: 384x288 16 bit TrueColor (LE) ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=13,size=64x48): Invalid argument Somebody have idea or experience TIA Ramón Pons Agora Systems, S.A. c/ Aravaca 12 28040 Madrid ramon.pons@agoratechnologies.com http://www.agoratechnologies.com/

I think this has to do with the ongoing removal of color space conversions from kernel modules. http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/driver-reject.html According to http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/ xavtv 3.56 has now solved this incompatability problem. Perhaps you should upgrade xawtv. Odd Arild Olsen

Harmless - my Phillips webcam says that too. <snip VIDIOCGAUDIO warnings> Those are harmless too. It's saying it can't open the sound device of the webcam.
Invalid argument ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=0,size=0x0): Device or resource busy
This appears to be the root of the problem. Something else has claimed the capture device (the webcam). Check your process table, or try fuser on /dev/video.
Thank you for yours answers. The problem is the color space conversions of the kernel. I have dowload the last version and works fine.
