Problem writing audio CDs with KreateCD
Hello, I am new to Linux, and was hoping somebody here could help me with a problem I'm having. It seems that I am not able to write audio CDs. Data CDs write just fine, however. I've searched the Web for an answer, but haven't found one yet. I am running SuSE Linux 7.3 and using KreateCD frontend software. I have attached below the output that KreateCD gives me when I attempt to write an audio CD. I would be very grateful if someone could give me some advice on this. Thanks. KreateCD says: scsidev: '0,0,0' scsibus: 0 target: 0 lun: 0 Linux sg driver version: 3.1.20 Cdrecord 1.11a05 (i686-suse-linux) Copyright (C) 1995-2001 Jrg Schilling TOC Type: 0 = CD-DA Using libscg version 'schily-0.5' atapi: 1 Device type : Removable CD-ROM Version : 0 Response Format: 1 Vendor_info : 'LG ' Identifikation : 'CD-RW CED-8080B ' Revision : '1.11' Device seems to be: Generic mmc CD-RW. Are you trying to copy an audio CD? Burn .mp3's? .wavs?
I've only tried to burn .wavs. -Trent __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Got something to say? Say it better with Yahoo! Video Mail http://mail.yahoo.com

-Trent =================== Trent, The problem you described looked exactly like the problem I had when
On Thursday 14 February 2002 11:00 pm, Trent Clifton, went on about: trying to get a new Mitsumi CDRW to work. Of course, it wouldn't do data burning or anything. I will assume you went into the Audio part of KreateCD when you started it? If you went into the standard data section, this might be part of the problem. Second, could it be permissions for audio on the user? Did you try to do this as root? Just some thoughts, wish I could be more help. Patrick - Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I get the same results as root as I do as a normal user. Hmmm... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Got something to say? Say it better with Yahoo! Video Mail http://mail.yahoo.com

Try typing this on the command line. It works great for me to create an audio cd: cdrecord -v dev=0,0,0 speed=4 -pad -audio /home/bryan/Wavs/*wav In the above command, replace the path with whatever directory you have your wavs in. *************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 7.3 Professional KDE 2.2.1 KMail 1.3.1 This is a Microsoft-free computer Bryan S. Bryan - Thanks for the suggestion, but I am still getting an input/output error from cdrecord. Any other thoughts? -Trent __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Sports - Coverage of the 2002 Olympic Games http://sports.yahoo.com

This will probably not solve your problem, but it's worth a shot. [It would really suck if just this fixed the problem and you tried everything else.] Upgrade your cdrtools to the latest, which is now 1.11a13. It's worth a shot. -- Karol Pietrzak PGP KeyID: 3A1446A0

Well, since the graphical tools call cdrecord the way as above and things are not working for root either, I'd try to reinstall / reget and recompile cdrecord next.
