i am new on linux and i installed suse 9.2 yesterday and after the installation when i boot everything just freeze. what dose it means and how do i fix it? i have tried to find the answer on internet but i don't get it. i have read that this error hw_random won't affect anything and it is only to remove it. but i don't get how to remove it from the boot options sence i can get in to the shell.
i have tried to install in safe mode but then everything freeze in yast while formating the harddisk instead.

Hi Anna, In order to be of more help, I believe everyone will need a bit more information from you please. Things like your hardware setup, ram, hard drive, mobo chipset, if possible. How old is the equipment, what external peripherials are connected, etc. All these things will possibly help someone in determining what you need to do to install SuSE successfully.
You say it installed, but as Brad pointed out, can you even boot to init 3? It's not sounding like a good install or that you connected some faulty piece of hardware later?
A little more info would help! Oh, I don't believe being Swedish is synonymous with bad english. Many have trouble, from time to time. ;o)

//anna Hello Anna,
I had a similar problem with my SuSE9.1 box and the same mobo. for me it was a Hotplug and Busmastering problem. I could only do a full boot when I used the option NOHOTPLUG=1. Maybe it would be a temporary solution for booting for you. Are there some cards on the pci-bus? If so, try to change them in the slots. My Problem was solved by removing the SCSi-Controller that I inserted. He and my FX5200 argued to be the "Busmaster-Boss". :) Regards, Rolf-Dieter Damm
