Dear Listmembers, I tried to install SuSE 9.2 on the following machine unsuccessful: BIOS Report is as follows: Pentium MMX, 166 MHz 192 MB main memory Primary Master Maxtor 91360U4 (13.6 GB) Primary Slave Maxtor 92732U8 (27.3 GB) Secondary <none> Card-01 OPL3-SAX Sound Board Adaptec AHA-2930CU SCSI BIOS v1.34.1 SCSI ID: 4 TEAC CD-R55S SCSI BIOS Not installed A report of "yast2 hwinfo" (SuSE 9.0) is also available (~80 Kb). The installation of SuSE 9.2 hangs at the following last line:
SUSE Linux installation program v1.7.17 (c) 1996-2004 SUSE LINUX AG <<<
The last thing I could see it doing, was changing the Font on the Textscreen. After that it is doing nothing anymore. That even happens when I try to install it by using "Installation (save settings)" in "Text Mode". Can anybody give me some advice how to get SuSE 9.2 installed on this box, please? Best regardss Martin

Hmm that's actually only slightly lesser specced than what I run 9.2 on. I have a 350mhz AMD K6-2 with about the same amount of RAM. The HD is a lowly 6gb (though I do have a swappable - not hot - 80gb drive that I use as well. I was actually hoping to try a 166mhz MMX chip on another very old board with 9.2 It won't be for some time though so I can't tell you how I get on with that one, sorry. -- Take care. Thanks Kevanf1, I forgot to mention that SuSE 7.3 AND 9.0 are installed on that machine and are running well on it (or should I say walking? I never intended it to be a GUI workstation!). I don't think 9.2 contains something that basically forbids it to run on that box. Martin

The only thing I have found is that it (9.2) takes appreciably longer to load at boot than 9.1 But, I do have a full system together with a load of stuff that I could really safely trim back :-) But it really shoudl load on a 166 chip with that much RAM....I would have thought. -- Take care. Yes, when I tried it first, I think I gave enough time to get up, but
I'll give it another try (tonight) will report then.
But shouldn't it response to
