Hey guys, I want to automount the /usr/local directory from my fileserver (SLES 11 SP1) on my desktop (OpenSUSE 11.4). This is the /etc/exports file on server1: /usr/local xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx(rw,sync) This is the /etc/auto.master on desktop1: #+auto.master /usr/local /etc/auto.local --timeout=300 --ghost And the /etc/auto.local file on desktop1: * -fstype=nfs,rw,nosuid,soft server1.where.ever:/usr/local But I cannot cd into anything under /usr/local after restarting all the daemons, I just get 'No such file or directory'. Where am I going wrong? I don't use LDAP. The autofs RPM is autofs-5.0.3-89.12.1 Thanks, Mark -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

If I do a df -h . in /usr/local it looks as it should be, but
/usr/local does not show with a 'mount', so I guess the answer is no?
Thanks

No, it doesn't show with just a df.....and there is nothing in the
logs related to autofs :(

Try grepping for 'automount'. Also, maybe amend /etc/sysconfig/autofs : AUTOFS_OPTIONS="-v" -- Per Jessen, Zürich (11.2°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

OK, so portmap was not running because that package wasn't installed
on the server. I installed it, then ran into portmap[20840]: cannot
bind udp: Address already in use type errors.
I managed to kill something that was using port 111 and both nfs and
portmap are now running, but I still have the same problem.
/# rcnfs status

/# rcportmap status

You still have to mount the share manually on the client, and if it fails, look in the logs. My guess is that you have to restart firewalls, to make them aware of portmap. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
