[opensuse] uncopiable files
Hello, I have from time to time files with names so ugly I can't copy then from a file system to an other. I have to find a way to copy them or at least to list them (to edit the name manually) rsync error (example) "rsync: recv_generator: failed to stat "/media/disk/sauvegardes/sav_web/kim-home-20081207/www/htdocs/wiki/wikilib.d/PmWikiFr.FeuillesDeDonn\#351esVersPmWiki": Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character (84)" just now it's a copy from a backup HDD (ext3) to an other (newer, bigger, NTFS) HDD thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://news.opensuse.org/2009/04/13/people-of-opensuse-jean-daniel-dodin/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Maybe the original uses utf-8, and ntfs can't handle it. You'd need conversion, somehow... :-? Have a look at mtools; I know mcopy does the conversion, but I don't think it handles ntfs. Maybe one of those tools can be used to convert the names, though. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
