Add your users to uucp group.
If you create the users with YaST (you should) they are added by default to some groups like uucp, audio, video.
I have already tried this but I still get "Line in use" errors? uucp:x:14:backup,barx,blmgr,boss,capture,daemon,date,fbsys,genpac,gfee,gfs,hcap,hcapman,modem,natgnet,ngn,ngolfnet,payroll,pos,softech,spoint,sshd,support,taos,transfer -- Chadley Wilson Redhat Certified Technician Cert Number: 603004708291270 Pinnacle Micro Manufacturers of Proline Computers ==================================== Exercise freedom, Use LINUX =====================================

OK now I am not 100% sure, I know chmod 777 /dev/ttyS1 or S0 fixes it, but let me go to the site quickly I get back to you on Monday. Thanks for the the great support. -- Chadley Wilson Redhat Certified Technician Cert Number: 603004708291270 Pinnacle Micro Manufacturers of Proline Computers ==================================== Exercise freedom, Use LINUX =====================================

Hey, now I'm confused. /dev/ttys1 and /dev/ttys0 are different serial ports....aren't they? The modem can't be on both at the same time can it? -- Take care. Kevan Farmer 34 Hill Street Cheslyn Hay Staffordshire WS6 7HR
