'Ripping' CDs - Sound quality problems
Dear All, I've been trying to create Vorbis files, intending to build up collection CDs containing my own legally owned CDs. I've tried using GRip on my SuSe 9.0 box, but it seems that whatever settings I use, about 10-30 seconds into the song there is a bit of static distorting the song. It only lasts about 5-10 seconds, but its on every song (not just the first one on the CD). It seems to get better if I set quality to 10 for the encoder, but the file size isn't very good, and ideally I'd like to be in a situation where I can get good compression, without the static, and anyway, the distortion doesn't disappear, it just lasts less time. Has anyone had more success? I had a similar problem with MP3, but I'd rather stay with Ogg Vorbis anyhow, supporting Open Source etc. Thanks in anticipation Richard
