Hi all I have installed the version on the CDs, but the only thing I get is "segmentation fault". Anyone else has the same experience? Praise
Well, since 1.0 of OpenOffice was released today. Don't bother figuring out that old version. Just download the newly released v1.0 and make sure to mv your .sversionrc to something like .back.sversionrc so it can create a new one and have fun. It worked perfectly on my officemates 8.0 system, my 7.3 system at home and my office workstation which is still (arrgh!) 7.2 :) * Praise (praisetazio@tiscalinet.it) [020501 13:40]: ::Hi all :: ::I have installed the version on the CDs, but the only thing I get is ::"segmentation fault". Well, I'm quite happy with how it displayed the 3 .xls and 2 .doc files I recieved today. My boss however wasn't happy that I brainfarted and saved one of the .docs in native SOffice format. *laugh* His MS Office 2k wouldn't open it. oh boy. -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little. -GC --=====-----=====--

~ opening in native SOffice format, and, then RE-Saving in Text format, will ensure that Win2k user can read it { loss of formating is small price to pay? ~ &, prolly the Win2k users proggie will re-format that text-file with its own defaults, when saving the text-file as a .DOC file again? } best wishes ____________ sent on Linux ____________
Yeah, I know about that. :) I was more or less saying I messed up and saved it in the wrong format for a change a Windows user went through what I go through quite a bit. :) Cheers! * tabanna (tabanna@aig.forthnet.gr) [020501 21:36]: ::On Wed, 01 May 2002, Ben Rosenberg wrote: ::> saved one of the .docs in native SOffice format. *laugh* His MS Office ::> 2k wouldn't open it. ::_____________________ :: :: ~ opening in native SOffice format, and, then RE-Saving :: in Text format, will ensure that Win2k user can read it :: { loss of formating is small price to pay? ~ &, prolly :: the Win2k users proggie will re-format that text-file :: with its own defaults, when saving the text-file as :: a .DOC file again? } -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little. -GC --=====-----=====--
I downloaded OO this morning and did an install and I must say it went flawlessly. From what i can tell so far I'm most favorably impressed. Haven't come across any problems so far. Is there any literature available for it yet; I thought I did a careful search but can't find anything. Guess its time to did in and perhaps submit some. Quick question. After the install elected to put the program where it wanted, home/dcjohan/OpenOffice.org1.0, i curious if it would be O.K. to delete the set of files used for the install and also the tarball. Seems like I've got an additional 122M of code taking up space unnecessarily. dave Ben Rosenberg wrote:

Unless for some reason you need the tarball or you have a slow connection. I don't see any reason to keep it. -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little. -GC --=====-----=====--
