Att. Patric Shanahan When I start opensuse, it opens with init modem, config continue, .......detect modem, detecting,..........modem0 next I click on firefox..........firefox, server not found.
I guess I am missing a step, like in windows I would have to connect to earthlink first. --

This is what I typed; yast network modem providers This is what I got; bash yast command not found peterxyz@linux-tpul: -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
type 'yast2' and then navigate through the menus.

The above is "find the menu entry to start up Yast", then, in yast find the entry for Network, then there find the entry for modem, etc. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Sorry, I lost the last one of your replies somehow, between my laptop and this one. Anyway I did go to......... menu-yast-network-modems....... It gave me the same message as I mentioned before, modem0 internetprovider Earthlink.net etc. So it seems to be there allright but when I start Firefox "no modem detected" Bless you,John H. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

But have you connected to the internet yet. On dialup, you have to connect before you can browse. How are you dialing out, with wvdial ? -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
