I noticed that suse have posted this kernel in the 6.4 update folder on the ftp server. My query being, is it a simple matter of downloading and running the rpm through yast or is thier more to utilising this kernel update. I appoligise for lack of knowledge as I am very new to SuSE, and not that much more wiser with linux, although it is about 3 months now I have been experiencing Linux. You should also run "mk_initrd" and "lilo" after updating the kernel RPM. This will make sure, that the boot loader will find the new kernel image on your disk and that the new drivers will be used on bootup.

Well - this list is the right place to get you going and learn a lot. Welcome! Lenz, do you have any idea when SuSE will release fixes for susefax and sendfax for version 6.4? Both of these are broken...and no, it has nothing to do with Hylafax. I upgraded a test system from 6.3 to 6.4 and these programs stopped working. Hylafax is on a separate 6.3 box and on this box both susefax and sendfax do work (as they used to on the test box when it was still 6.3). I registered a ticket shortly after 6.4 was released but was told that your development folks were too busy to look at the problems. I'm not aware that this has ever been looked at since??? That in itself is an interesting comment on SuSE's customer service. Thanks Lenz This advice was very welcomed and what I expected the rpm to do, but as they say better safe than sorry. Yes I have learnt quite a bit from reading the postings to the mail list and as I have stated in the past this is a great and usable distro for the newbie or experienced amongst us, keep up the good work. Love the USB and ATA66 support in new kernel, I think I might try my own kernel compile and that USB scanner in corner. I think I will revisit that XFree86 4.0 now as I noticed there is an update 4.01 in freshmeats daily mail out, maybe this has solved problem I was having in past.

Is it ok to install this update on a 6.3 system? There isn't an equivalent update in the 6.3 update directory tree.
