Odd... this looks ok, but you say the machine crashes when you run a 3D app? Does this include "gears"?
Just tried gears: freezes with no graphics only the frame of the program. Had to unplug box. I had no problem with nvidia or geforce 4 on the same AMD Athlon box earlier. I have 2 files an ATI-4.2.0-13 and a drm-kernel-1 that i got from http://gatos.sourceforge.net . I will try these now as they say solves ATI Radeon problems. The DRM is for DRI (Direct Rendering Infrastructure)? I only thought that the Radeon 7000 was a tested linux hardware approved. I suppose only without 3d support. Wish me luck.
Hmmm... I have a 7500... it works fine on my box (Asus A7V and XP1700). I'm just using the standard XF86 with GLX. - h On Tue, 13 Aug 2002, Thom Nuzum wrote: -> ->> Odd... this looks ok, but you say the machine crashes when you run a 3D ->> app? im using xf86 Radeon and my x server is listed as XFree86 4: radeon ,in Yast How can I check on GLX? Thanks
From your 3Ddiag, it seems to be installed. You can check the version by looking at "rpm -qa|grep -i glx"

I lowered my monitor frequency to 70hz. It seems to have auto-detected at a too high range(viewsonic A70-f) and gears works fine now. Tux racer is very slow but its not crashing so i might be on my way.

16bit color, 1024X768 refresh rate is now 78Hz. hmm i though i had it at 70hz. 3d enabled 963 frames in 5.000 seconds = 192.600 FPS 1050 frames in 5.001 seconds = 209.958 FPS 1057 frames in 5.002 seconds = 211.315 FPS 438 frames in 5.001 seconds = 87.582 FPS 1054 frames in 5.000 seconds = 210.800 FPS 1056 frames in 5.003 seconds = 211.073 FPS 1055 frames in 5.001 seconds = 210.958 FPS 1055 frames in 5.002 seconds = 210.916 FPS 826 frames in 5.042 seconds = 163.824 FPS 709 frames in 5.001 seconds = 141.772 FPS 1729 frames in 5.001 seconds = 345.731 FPS 1699 frames in 5.000 seconds = 339.800 FPS 1358 frames in 31.430 seconds = 43.207 FPS 1627 frames in 5.000 seconds = 325.400 FPS

Well, one thing is not right... the version of xf86-4.2.0 should be 107, not 64. I wonder if there is a slightly compatibility issue. As for Kevin's email, I was commenting about the frame rates. The hardware acceleration should work (windowed or full screen.) Judging by the frame rates that were reported, one could assume that 300 frames per second in a small window is not accelerated. I get 1400 fps in a window and roughly 240 at full screen. - Herman On Tue, 13 Aug 2002, Thom Nuzum wrote: -> ->Below are the 2 outputs: Incidentally a SAX configuration causes a crash where ->YAst2 does not. the 56kHz is horzintal, not refresh... If your monitor is correctly identified, then it should use a mode line that is appropriate. as root, do a "init 3" and run sax2 from the console. When finished, run "init 5" and try all of the various things again. Try gears... if it won't work, then do a 3Ddiag and print out the glxinfo again. - Herman On Tue, 13 Aug 2002, Thom Nuzum wrote: ->On Monday 12 August 2002 14:11, Herman L. i checked some suse google lists and it seems like my card is full of problems on suse. it is not listed as supported on any versions, though other radeon cards are. in conclusion i have 3d support so long as i dont touch sax sax2 or yast which is not an option. if i do use these my system will crash and with safe mode i get V synch out of range error and must reinstall X packs. luckily i still have 2 weeks to return the card which gives me time to tweek around. thanks (incidentally it is supported in redhat 7.3, which i have tried and don't like. gnome is dreadful and they refuse to offer kde updates so your forced to use gnome.) i may try gefore 4 or some newer supported radeon card on this list.
Actually, it is fully supoprted... The Radeon 7000 (also known as the Radeon VE) is in the SuSE hardware database. http://hardwaredb.suse.de/connectuserServer.php?PHPSESSID=92bacfc175c6869587725b7723ed33f9&manufactor=ati&device=radeon&LANG=en_UK&offset=0&typ=easySearch&basesub=5 And believe me... before you go and get you NVidia card, I have had fewer issues with cards from ATI, than the Geforce models. What elese is in your system that could be causing you problems? Does your system have an integrated video set as well? - Herman Thom Nuzum wrote:

Hi, There are a few things that need to be done first: 1). In KDE Control Center, select 'Lan Browsing' under the 'Network' option. Click the 'Guided LISa Setup...' button and follow the instructions. This will configure the LISa Daemon for you local network settings. At the end you will be prompted for your root password if you are not already root. 2). In YAST2 Control Center, select 'Run Level Editor' under the 'System' option. Select the 'Runlevel Properties' button and ensure that the lisa service is running and that it starts up at the required runlevels (mine is set to start up on runlevels 2, 3, 5, although I only really have to use it on runlevel 5). Now when you Konqueror, you should be able to browse the network like normal. To set you default Username, Password, and Domain select the 'Windows Shares' option under the 'Network' section n KDE Control Center, and fill in the required fields. Hope this helps.
