got one gripe about 7.1, maybe one and a half <g>
******* Where does a newborn go from here? The Net is Vast, and Infinate...******** Why does the install ( graphical Yast2) insist on some "real name" ( any old name will do) on the install. If you do not put something there, it wont let you past that page. I could deal w/ that much easier IF kmail didn't INSIST on using the "real name" ANd a username@linux as part of it's info it pipes out in addition to whatever you have put for your "reply to" address, and I had to fight w/ it about letting me use my reply to" address! It is very weird. I know that isn't a suse problem, but my kmail problems are exasserbated by the insistance of a "real name" as well as for whatever reason this install seems to insist on using it's own name for the domain ( I did go thru that bit and set my domain... ) I think somehting is wrong on this box, but I am not worried, as i was going to use it as a swap for Husbands older slower box to use as a gateway. so a nice clean full install is forthcoming. But I sure wouold be happier if there wasn't going to be that problem w/ kmail. ( was going to use it for hubby's email proggy. I want to get a working partition for 7.1 onto his current box for him to play w/ before he changes his mind ) Perhaps a jerked pork roast will keep him from thinking about using linux instead of windows ( which he doesn't like anyway, er windows , not the jerked pork <G>) Oh yeah, couldn't find Wordperfect listed under the "commercial" apps on the 7.1 install, was it moved, or you just not including it any more? Word perfect is important in this switchover. I've got him saving all his backlog of emails as text files , but there is no way at the moment I can get him to try to rtf his backlog of books and articles and general papers he's written over the years .. certainly not right as a first instance. So if youi aren't including it any more I'll have to unstall it off the 7.0 disk ??? Just when I htought I had it all figured out ( how I was going to do this switch), it gets complicated <sigh> On the brighter side, I shouldn't HAVE to move him again So All is not dark in this tunnel.
