RE: [SLE] User Groups/Associations
That is something to think about. However, I'm just a beginer with Linux. I would be more interested in learning from others. Don't get me wrong, I'm not new to computers. I have my MCSE (no jokes please) and have been working as a Network admin for about two years, and have installed and setup Suse Pro. I actually installed pure-ftpd on a work machine. But that's just about it.

I am trying to find a usergroup in or near the Louisville, KY area. I did find one one the linux.org website but when I sent an email to the contact name, I did not get a response. This leads me to beleive that goup is no longer active.
I have been looking for the same. I'm located in Louisville too. Maybe we should start a new "active" users group in the area!

In your case, the University of Louisville. "Dues are $10 per semester. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 12:20 pm in the J.B. Speed Building, room LL16. Additionally, you could start your own group by trying to locate other Linux
users in the Louisville area.
The BLU is over 10 years old, and over that time, we have not charged any
dues. We have monthly meetings and several installfests per year. We ask
for donations at the installfests, and that is our only revenue. We are
lucky in that we have a data center (Northeast Data Vault) that has donated
the bandwdth to the BLU and Boston Usergroups. The problem is the initial
publicity, but possibly the local newspaper and radio stations might help.

What???? You have to pay dues????? We don't in our local LUG. Or is this for hiring rooms etc? We meet at a local Indian food restaurant. The good thing about it is that you don't have to buy anything. Mostly people do make a social occasion out of it though and have a meal etc. -- Take care. The post I made was from the Louisville, Ky LUG. They do charge dues.
