My machine is currently in dual boot mode as I transition fully from WinXP to SuSE. Right now I use Netscape Mail in WinXP, I'd like to take my existing mail from WinXP into Netscape Mail under SuSE. 1) Is there a way to do this? Just zip up and take the mail folder across? 2) Can this be done to move the email into another mail program? thanks, Ahbaid.
I would have kinda' the same question, but worst: ;)
How can I import Outlook Express in Kmail or Netscape Mail?

I think the windows version of Netscape can import outlook folders reasonably well (if outlook is installed). Then, those folders can be used by netscape/mozilla/kmail/balsa/pine/mail... you name it :-) -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

Netscape mail uses the mbox mail storage format on all platforms, so yes. KMail also uses it so it can be imported into KMail extremely easily.
2) Can this be done to move the email into another mail program?
Depends whether the program uses mbox mail files or can import them. - -- Cheers, Chris Howells -- chris@chrishowells.co.uk, howells@kde.org Web: http://chrishowells.co.uk, PGP ID: 33795A2C KDE: http://www.koffice.org, http://printing.kde.org, http://usability.kde.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+p7CaF8Iu1zN5WiwRAgKHAJsEf3p7Xr7gJEWNFpXVZGVArrfP4wCdHWZg TUTJXHbMgkFtZso8+OV2awY= =WUn1 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
Thanks all for your responses, I mounted my NTFS partition and copied the mail directory to a separate location. Then pointed Mozilla to it and my mail works! All I need to test now is if XP likes having another OS touching these files, this way I can dual boot and have my mail in both areas up to date without leaving messages on my providers servers. thanks again for all your help suse-linux-e regards, Ahbaid Chris Howells wrote:

You can't write to an NTFS partition from Linux. - -- Cheers, Chris Howells -- chris@chrishowells.co.uk, howells@kde.org Web: http://chrishowells.co.uk, PGP ID: 33795A2C KDE: http://www.koffice.org, http://printing.kde.org, http://usability.kde.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+qE0PF8Iu1zN5WiwRAiMUAJ417no4fvTSKk/m4Px1UognyOqeWwCeODjq OMiCwH/kvOwW/dgyu6zAa4Y= =zglX -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Go to Edit->Mail and Newsgroup Account Settings. find the account you want to transfer, click on Server Settings. Look at the bottom at the box "Local directory." Copy the contents of the directory under XP to the equivalent directory under linux after following the same steps to find the "Local directory" there. John --
