Re: [SLE] how strong is suse im market?
Redhat might be big now in servers but they have no
**recent** 'desktop' client. Yes there is community
fedora stuff but thats not really 'redhat'.
Redhat gave up on 'desktop unix' - make your head
think about that.
I'm not sure i want to pay redhat bucks for a lamp
server. - I can do that 9.2 professional. Redhat
works for pointy haired bosses that need 'support' (or
those who buy sco liciences)
Thats my view
--- it clown
If you look at:
http://www.theregister.com/2005/04/01/red_hat_fy05_results/
It says that redhat is quite huge.
How does suse compare to redhat?

Wrong. You make a confussion between "dropping official support" and "dropping WS distro". There is a version, Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS that does just workstation. Just like NLD.

If you are an enterprise, you pay for RH or SLES. Sles sells as well to those "hairy bosses" that just understand the need of enterprise and don't play sysadmining home, with 3 pcs and a suse professional box running apache the the powerfull mysql database. Josephine
